Norry and Noz ride LEJOG 2011

What is this all about?

This site will record how Martin and Ian Norris prepare for and complete the classic cycling trip of Land's End to John O'Groats in April / May 2011.  As well as looking forward to meeting the physical and mental challenge of the trip, we hope to raise a decent sum of money for the Teenage Cancer Trust  charity

Both of us only started cycling seriously in 2010 and found that we both wanted to take on the Land's End to John O'Groats challenge.  We are really looking forward to the ride itself but also spending time together which is normally difficult to do, with our busy lives.

Preparing for the trip is key, and something which is harder for Ian due to the recent arrival of his third child, the lovely Milly in January.  Still, we are both determined to put in  the long hours of  training that are needed.  We will leave Land's End on Friday 22nd April and all being well, will arrive in John O'Groats some time on Thursday 5th May.  To do this we will average around 70 miles cycling per day - a total distance of just over 1,000 miles.  We will have climbed over 33,000 feet in that time, which is 6.3 miles and higher than Mt. Everest.
We are doing the ride "unsupported" which means we have to carry everything we need on our bikes, and if we have any problems in the middle of the moors, we'll have have to sort it ourselves.  However, we are really fortunate that Rob Lusher has offered to drive us to Land's End and pick us up at John O'Groats.  This is one big hassle out of the way and we're really grateful - Cheers Rob.

We have chosen the Teenage Cancer Trust as the Charity we'd like to support - and you can donate to this great cause on our Charity Page.  The JustGiving widget below shows how we are progressing towards our target of £1,000.

This site is constantly being updated.  So please check back now and then to see how it has progressed and also to follow our blog especially during the dates of the trip.
